Frequently Asked Questions
1) How do I book?
- Use the online booking page. (If requried, please call for assistance and we will gladly help)
Select the box for the time you wish to book from. A pop up box will ask for an end time.
Select the end time, and you will be asked to leave your name, artist name, email, and phone number.
Next, you’ll see an equipment page, where you can select anything additional you need to hire.
Once confirmed, you will be booked in. A full detailed confirmation page will be displayed, including location and payment details.
You will also receive an email of confirmation. (If not, please let us know)
2) How can I pay?
- We accept all forms of payment, except Cash. We can accept Bank Transfer, Chip & PIN (at the studio) or secure payment link. APPLE Pay, Google Pay and American Express are all also included.
3) What is your cancellation policy?
- Any cancellation made with less than 48 hours notice will be charged in full, to be paid by the day of your original booking as we often cannot fill spaces at short notice.
4) Do you have regular rehearsal slots?
- We do get booked up quickly, but re-occuring bookings can be set up on the system. If you make an online booking yourself, the re-occuring booking button for this is on the confirmation page. Otherwise, contact us directly for assistance.
The cancellation policy still applies. Please note, if setting a re-occuring booking, this requires attendance expectation. This should not to be used as a way of reserving space to regularly cancel last minute. All re-occuring bookings are regularly reviewed, and repeated cancellations (whether within policy or not) can result in the re-occuring booking to be systematically removed. We would therefore recommend to book only as and when is required.
5) Do you have rooms we can book permanently, or for a few weeks, as a block booking?
- Yes, dependant on availability. Please get in touch and we will aim to help arrange something.

6) Is there any recording equipment or facility at the Studio?
- No (not yet!) The studio is purely rooms and space for hire. The rooms are equipped with full PA consisting of top active speakers and active subwoofers, with mixer, microphones, and audio cables. Additional equipment, for use with instruments, is available to hire. Often bands bring their own interface systems and computers for doing their own recording. We have had many singles and albums produced on site, however, this is managed by the bookers themselves, using their own equipment. For more info, advice or recommendations on this, please do ask!
7) Is there WiFi, and is it decent or strong enough when everyone is online?
- Yes, the WiFi is incredibly reliable and strong throughout the studio, even in the enclosed soundproof rooms you should receive a medium to full uninterrupted signal, even with multiple people logged on using the bandwidth. There are 2x available WiFi options that will show on your settings list, both starting with ‘Audio works’. The password is our moto: practicemakesprogress
8) Can we livestream or create a promotional video?
- Yes, you can use the rooms however you wish. Some bands prefer the open plan Mezzanine floor, as this is a blank space, with no wall coverings, and the building features make for a nice backdrop. (See Mezzanine tab for more information) All we ask is that you please tag us in! We’ll be happy and proud to promote you on our online platforms.
9) Is there parking at Audio Works?
- Yes there is, we have dedicated, and additional spaces available. Cars must display a permit. These are available at the reception desk. A map of the car park is also on display, Please remember to return your permit at the end of your session, or we will charge the band £10 for it’s replacement.
10) Is there wheelchair access?
- Unfortunately, due to the building being industrial, and more recently it was an old brewery (hence it is called ‘The Maltings) , the front door is accessed via a metal fixed staircase. Although the studio itself is flat once upstairs, the rehearsal rooms are built-up due to soundproof flooring, and therefore there is a step-up into the rooms. If attending a live event on the Mezzanine, this is also accessible via an internal staircase. It is therefore advised to come with assistance, especially if you think the stairs access will be of any concern or an issue.
